She answers an advert for a nurse or midwife required in a remote town located in North California.

The town is called the Virgin River, and Mel believes moving there she?ll be able to transform herself and so she moves there. As she arrives in the town and starts her work she realizes it?s not what she had thought, and life is not as simple as it seemed earlier. The town did seem a perfect place at first but not anymore. She feels the pains in her mind must be healed before she can live peacefully anywhere.
